School Academic Session:

The school academic session is from June to May. The academic year comprises of three terms.
First Term First week of June to Second week of September
Second Term Fourth week of September to Third week of December
Third Term First week of January to Second week of April

Weekly Schedule and Daily Routine:

The School’s academic activities are scheduled only for five days a week – Monday through Friday.
In case of unprecedented holidays declared during the weekdays the week’s Saturday will be converted into the working day as a compensative measure. The same will be intimated to the parents through the student’s hand-book/ SMS.
The daily routine is designed to cultivate good habits in the students to develop in them the capacity for self education to progressively develop their mental and physical capabilities and to provide time to recreation.
Each working day – Monday to Friday – consists of two sessions – Morning (Fore noon) Session and Afternoon Session. Each session will have an interval of 10 minutes.

Morning Session 9.10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Lunch Break 12.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m.
Afternoon Session 1.00 p.m. to 3.20 p.m. (UKG to II)
1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. (III to XII)

Students should be in their respective classrooms before 9.10 a.m. Late-comers (Permissible between 9.10 a.m. and 9.25 a.m.) should surrender their hand-book to the student volunteers at the main gate. If late beyond 9.25 a.m., they should either be accompanied by their parents or should bring a letter of explanation from the parents.

Attendance will be taken five minutes after the beginning of each session. Those who are not present at the roll call will be marked absent for that session. Students who report late will be permitted to attend class only with a written permission slip from the Principal.

Students representing school and participating in external competitions, cultural programmes, sports and games, attending seminars, camps or educational tours will be given full attendance. The classes the student missed will be compensated. However no special / extra classes will be organised by the school for the students who are absent for their own reasons.

Working Pattern of Lower Kinder Garten (LKG Classes):

LKG Classes in St. John’s are thought in a ‘play-way’ method and we follow a definite curriculum of learning with proper classroom atmosphere with emphasis on writing skill, conversation skill, oral work coupled with recreation activities.

LKG Classes are conducted for only one session i.e. Morning Session (Forenoon) and they will be working between 9.10 a.m. and 12.25 p.m. with a recess break of 15 minutes for snacks, drinks etc.


Absentees who have not obtained prior permission will be dealt seriously. If absence in unavoidable on account of illness or any other reason a letter of explanation must invariable and immediately be sent to the Principal or brought at least on returning to school. In case of continuous absence for ten days without information, the absentee’s name shall be struck off the roll. If re-admitted he / she has to pay the re-admission fee.

75% of attendance is compulsory for promotion to the next class.

System of Evaluation:
The students’ performance in all subjects is evaluated throughout the year. School follows CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) system for classes I to IX. This system comprises of Scholastic and Co-scholastic areas. Each term of an academic year would have Formative and Summative Assessment,
